Puttur’s professor turned entrepreneur dies – The Hindu


Ravichandran Venkataraman was the founder of Diya Systems and GlowTouch Technologies

Ravichandran Venkataraman, the founder of Glowtouch Techonology and Diya Systems, passed away on November 12th. He was 74 years old.

He was at his daughter’s home in Louisville, Kenctucky, USA, after brain surgery two years ago. He leaves behind his wife Indira, daughter Vidya Ravichandran and son Hari.

He began his career in 1970 as a professor at St. Philomena College in Puttur and retired in 1999 emeritus professor of the college.

He then started several business ventures including Diya Systems in 2003 to provide BPO services. GlowTouch Technologies was founded in 2004 and has focused on software development services for medium-sized customers in the US and UK. Diya Systems and GlowTouch have been merged to bring together key products and services. The development center in Mangaluru with over 1,500 employees was one of several of the company’s centers.

Known for advanced management practices, Mr. Ravichandran was popular with the organization and industry. He has been involved in several philanthropic activities through the GT Foundation, which he set up in 2004, and has been closely associated with the Akshaya Patra Foundation. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Mangaluru since 2000. He received the Bharatiya Udyog Ratan Award, the Eminent Aloysian Alumni Award, the MMA-KVK Outstanding Manager Award and the Spandana Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
