Pine Labs, a leading trading platform for retailers, launched Plural on Thursday, marking the entry into the online payment area. Drawing on years of strong technological capabilities, the company is now looking to reinvent the market through a range of online payment products designed for speed, security and user experience.

The company said plural is expected to disrupt the payment gateway realm and ease the transition from offline to online for Pine Labs’ merchant base and other online businesses looking to partner with a company with a good track record in the payments ecosystem.

Plural is aimed at retailers and companies that want to build up or expand their existing online commerce business. The company targets online stores, large e-commerce companies, large government institutions, and large financial services companies. These are all key segments where speed, simplicity, and security are critical elements to the desired user experience.

“I am very excited to take Pine Labs on a new journey and familiar territory. What our tech people with plural have delivered is absolutely world class, advanced technology and a seamless path for online commerce, ”said B. Amrish Rau, CEO of Pine Labs, during the company’s Pine Labs X.0 Summit. “We believe Plural will be a category-defining product that offers the end user an unmatched payment experience.”

Three key products announced under the Plural brand are: Plural Gateway, Plural Checkout, and Plural Console. Plural Gateway is a customizable payment gateway that enables payment acceptance via more than 100 payment methods and is also equipped to process Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) transactions. Plural Checkout is a Mobile SDK (Software Development Kit) designed to increase the performance of the payment gateway for Android and iOS users. Plural Console is a Payment Orchestration Platform (POP) that offers a single technical framework to initiate transactions via multiple payment gateways.

“The start of Plural at the same time as our very first fintech summit called Pine Labs X.0 is another special feeling,” said Rau. “I really had a fantastic time interacting with industry leaders like Gaurav Munjal, Gokul Rajaram, Shailendra Singh and Tanya Naik from Pine Labs, who joined us from PayPal last year and really led our entry into the online payments business.”
