Construction work begins on a new £46million business park in Derby

Construction work has started on a new £46million business park in Derby. Large steel beams are on display in the new 67 acre site of St Modwen Park in Pride Park opposite Wyvern Retail Park.

They are the frames for one of the mega warehouses on the site. Thousands of Derby County fans will have noticed the work during Saturday’s home game against Preston North End.

Last month it was reported that heavy machinery was on site when work began to erect the foundations. The area is about 70 football pitches in size. When fully completed, the new business park will bring up to 1,250 new jobs to the area.

In the first phase of the development, four huge new warehouses will be built. This initial work is expected to be completed in September/October.

Additional warehouses will be built during the second phase of development, which will begin later in the year. It is not yet known which companies will occupy the space in the new business park, but St Modwen Park bosses say there is already a lot of interest.

Planning permission for the site, formerly known as the Chaddesden Triangle, was granted by Derby City Council in September 2020.
