Ashforth subsidiary takes on new C-Suite role, JLL launches ESG business, CBRE expands Outer Boroughs team


AP Construction Co., the construction management and general contractor division of Ashforth Co., has hired a chief operating officer, a new position within the company.

Jason Hart joins the Hartford, Connecticut-based company with more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry, having served in various construction management, architecture, engineering and construction law firms as managing director, general counsel and project manager.

In his new role, Hart will oversee the management of the company’s field operations, pre-construction services, estimating, accounting, administration and business development. He also serves on the board of directors of AP Construction, which the company says develops and executes strategic initiatives.

Hart was previously General Counsel for Pavarini McGovern and Ajax Building Co., two operating units of the STO Building Group. Prior to that, he worked in project management at Bovis Lend Lease’s healthcare group in New York City and in construction consulting at Holt Construction. His career also includes a stint with the construction law firm Peckar & Abramson in New York and later he was General Counsel and Managing Director at Vidaris.

John Thigpen and Meghan Wirtner

JLL announced a new division at the company’s Charlotte, North Carolina office dedicated to Sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance, or ESG, in its Project and Development Services division.

The company has stopped John Thipen as Vice President and Megan Wirtner as project manager to support the group’s efforts in creating productive and healthy workplaces for clients and their employees.

In his new role, Thigpen will lead the sustainability team in the Carolinas and will be responsible for business development, client management and project delivery with a focus on ESG issues. Thigpen was previously at JLL as the energy and sustainability services manager for the brokerage firm’s work dynamics accounts. Most recently, he worked with the Natural Resources Defense Council as a climate advisor to the City of Charlotte on the Bloomberg Philanthropies American Cities Climate Challenge.

Wirtner will work closely with Thigpen. She previously worked as a project architect for Hennebery Eddy Architects, where she provided design and construction project management for various sustainable facilities. Wirtner is a LEED accredited professional and most recently worked at Green Hammer Design-Build as a project architect overseeing a number of net zero construction projects.

Joseph Cirone, left, and Patrick Dugan

Joseph Cirone and Patrick J Dugan have been Senior Vice Presidents at CBRE since 2017 the company’s Manhattan office.

In their new role, Cirone and Dugan will focus on representing landlords and renters in Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan as the brokerage firm looks to expand its footprint across the region.

The duo joins CBRE from Cushman & Wakefield, where they most recently served as Executive Directors advising a diverse client list with millions of square feet of completed office, retail and industrial transactions while also serving as leasing agents for over 8 million square feet in the outskirts of New York City.

Stephanie Stacy

Avenue5 Residential, an apartment building management services company, sponsored Stephanie Stacy as senior vice president of its multifamily portfolio in western Washington.

In her expanded role, Stacy will support a team of operations professionals managing more than 13,000 units in more than 80 properties at various lease stages in the greater Seattle and Tacoma area. In addition, she will continue to support new and existing clients on market and real estate opportunities.

Stacy joined Avenue5 in 2015. She holds the National Apartment Association’s Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor designation and began her multifamily career in 2010.

Bentley McKean

Bentley McKean joined Kidder Mathews’ West Los Angeles office as vice president.

In his new role, McKean will specialize in the acquisition and disposition of industrial real estate and commercial development sites throughout Southern California and nationwide.

McKean began his career in 2018 at Marcus & Millichap, where he received the brokerage firm’s Rising Star and Emerging Core awards and most recently served as a senior associate in Oxnard, California. According to Kidder Mathews, McKean became one of the youngest CCIM members, earning the designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member at age 24.

Markus Kresovik

Markus Kresovik will join the executive team of the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, effective August 15, as Senior Director for Policy.

In his new role, Kresowik will oversee the nonprofit research organization’s policy initiatives as well as leading programs led by 20 members at ACEEE that help reduce energy waste and combat climate change.

Kresowik, an expert and advocate for building electrification, most recently led federal and international policy for the RMI zero-carbon building program. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade leading clean energy campaigns at the Sierra Club, where he became deputy regional campaigner for the Northeast.

Amanda Burchfield

Cushman & Wakefield/the Lund Co Amanda Burchfield to the director of housing management in Omaha, Nebraska.

In her expanded role, Burchfield will lead a team of regional property managers within the firm’s property management portfolio.

Burchfield joined the company in 2015 as a property manager. She was promoted to regional real estate manager and oversaw a portfolio of 1,700 units. Burchfield brings over 19 years of property management experience and has overseen a range of multi-family homes from new construction to rental and renovation. She holds the designations of Certified Apartment Manager and Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor from the National Apartment Association.

Markus Schwamel

International design firm Ware Malcomb has hired Markus Schwamel as Director of Interior Architecture and Design in the firm’s downtown Chicago office.

In his new role, Schwamel will lead the office and oversee the growth of his interior design studio across the region.

Schwamel brings more than 20 years of experience in workplace, mixed-use, retail, urban development and multi-family projects. He has a Masters of Architecture in Urban Design from Kent State University and currently serves on the National Strategic Council of the American Institute of Architects, which represents more than 4,000 members across the state of Illinois, and has served on several AIA committees and task forces.
