A new small business seminar aims to provide outdoor entrepreneurs with ideas and advice for success in the Somerset County area.
Startup Alleghenies is hosting the Explore! Entrepreneurship Summit: Growing a Business in the Alleghenies on May 15-16 at River Mountain in Everett. The deadline until to register is Wednesday.
Debbi Prosser, director of business development at the Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission, said the event is tailored for locals who own or want to start small outdoor recreation businesses.

“We have conducted extensive research with experts in the region who understand where the business gaps and opportunities lie and the potential impact these companies may have on job creation in the Alleghenies,” she said in a release.
Marilyn Kail, spokeswoman for the summit, said that the Alleghenies is a great place for leisure and tourism businesses and that the goal of the summit is to help entrepreneurs thrive.
Veneto cooperation CEO Joe Veneto will present on both days of the summit and talk about how to build an outdoor leisure business and create outdoor adventures.

He will focus on the outdoor and leisure business and how experiential entrepreneurship supports tourism. On Monday he will present the results of his work to analyze the region and identify commercial gaps. Joe will share premier business opportunities awaiting entrepreneurs in the Alleghenies.”
The cost is $20 per person for both days and includes all scheduled sessions, lunch and complimentary refreshments. The number of participants is limited to 100 participants.
